Shortage

I received notification that the following two items are in very short supply.  If you can donate baby hygiene items and/or children's towels, it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for the donations over the weekend.  I will deliver them tomorrow.

Blizzard Fleece Sale

Thank you for all the wonderful donations that have been delivered in the last few weeks.  We've had toiletries, school supplies, books, blankets, and toys.

I noticed today in the Jo-Ann advertisements that Blizzard Fleece in both solids and prints will be $3.99/yard October 7-13.  Plus, there are amazing coupons for a dollar off your purchase total that can be applied as well.  This is an amazing deal and a way to really make your money stretch!  Fleece quilts are easy and fast and are a very fun project to do with children and grandchildren.

In November, we will be assembling denim rag quilts for the Heart to Heart project.  More details to follow but put November 3 at 7pm on your calendar.  Thanks for all your support.

Delivery

I am on my way to deliver towels, blankets, and school supplies that have been dropped off for the Heart to Heart Project.  Thank you so much for your donations!

Deal on Towels

Just heard of a great deal at Shopko for the next day or two.  Towels are on sale for $2.68 each, and a bundle of six washcloths is on sale for about $4.  If you're able to contribute, Shopko for towels right now is a great place to make your dollars stretch!

Happy Friday to all!

Empty Shelves

Thank you for the donations over the last week.  I made a delivery today and learned that 1893 kits have been distributed YTD.  What an amazing service we are helping to provide in our community!

This was the first time that I have ever noticed near empty shelves in the kit production area.  Towels are desperately needed!  According to Linda, a bath towel can be purchased for $1.97 at Wal-Mart.  If you run into any other fantastic deals, please let me know.

Also, the donated school supplies are nearly gone.  This is the ideal time of year to remedy that.  All the stores are starting to post their fabulous deals on back to school supplies.  Since things are available at such reduced prices, I think it would be great to buy as much as we can.  It's bang for your buck, so to speak!  These are the items that are currently needed:  washable crayons, washable markers, colored pencils, pens, pencils, rulers, pencil sharpeners, erasers, scissors, school glue, glue sticks, notebooks, and book bags.

If you are willing and able to help, it is much appreciated. Donations are accepted any time and can be left on Heidi's porch.

Project Update

YTD 2012, 1689 kits have been distributed.  That means 1689 towels, toothbrushes, shampoos, etc. have already been used.  The volume necessary to meet the need in SL Valley continues to go up!

Right now, the following supplies are very low and are considered focus items:

  • school supplies including notebooks, markers, washable crayons, and colored pencils
  • towels and washcloths
  • "toys" for teenage boys
  • fleece blankets especially these themed ones (fish & ocean, frogs, dinosaurs, and farm animals)
If you are interested in a current "Needs List", please contact Heidi.  Linda stresses her gratitude for all help she receives and really believes in this effort to help God's children.  It is a pleasure to help her even on a small scale.
